Anand Safi obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Temple University in January 2013. He has been involved in Technical Leadership roles in various capacities over the past 10+ years.

Most recently, he has been working at Insurity Inc. as a Technical Lead/ Engineering Manager for the Data Solutions practice. Prior to that, he was with Intent Global Inc. from April 2014 as an Associate Engineering Manager. Previously, he held the roles of Software Engineer (Full Stack) and Software Engineer in Test.

To help you visualize how he can guide you to change career to software engineer, here are a few points of his experience.  Currently, he leads a global team of 7 comprising of a Product Owner, Architect, Software Engineers and QA. He leads and implements code for the SpatialKey business division for 1 of the 3 technical product teams.He is well versed in modern web stack with JavaScript, Typescript, Vue, React. And he has done full stack development with Java, Node.js. He deploys code using CI/ CD tools like TeamCity, Jenkins and Travis and has used AWS Amazon Web Services application suite.

My day-to-day role involves a high level of stakeholder management, release coordination, technical product management and setting + implementing against a technical vision. I am the trusted liaison for business and technical teams. We practice SaFe agile + scrum methodologies.

I am also an engineering partner for the UX research group where user feedback is incorporated into incremental feature development. My current work style involves around agile practices, pair programming, mob programming, code reviews, close collaboration, sprint planning, retrospectives, brainstorming sessions, and program increments.

Beyond my role, I do quite a lot of volunteering and helped organized Google Dev Fest for 2016 and 2017. I am a committee member for the Diversity & Inclusion practice at Insurity along with serving as a Youth Advisory Board Member for Waterlution Canada. I formed and served as the President for Intent Toastmasters Club for more than 1.5 years. I am passionate about customer-centric product development. I co-invented 2 patents, one during my time at eBay Inc. and another more recently at Intent Global. I am also a Startup Advisor for Stay22. In addition, I offer active mentorship at several sites and write a blog centered around engineering and leadership on Medium and Dev.to

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive product development and management experience in very diverse settings. The most important lesson learned: success depends on leadership that reflects a collaborative style and a team that is mission driven.
