Marketing is an ever-evolving industry that continues to have careers coming in. His presentation covers two marketing fields that you should now about. The first of these is:

There are always a great deal of metrics to monitor in marketing. It has become so important to be able to understand what all of these numbers mean in regard to your marketing effort.

So many more sources of information exist today that were not around 5-10 years ago. With all of the social platforms it has become quite busy. That is why an individual focused on the metrics and has the ability to analyze and understand what it happening is so valuable.

The number of workers over 50 is increasing. Since we are living longer and those over 65 are continuing to work, the pool of over 50 talent is growing. The question is what steps should one take to improve their chances of finding the right job and getting hired. She presents 16 points that a person should really examine.

1. Reevaluate what’s important.
2. Know what you are looking for.
3. Have conversations.
4. Know where you want to work.
5. Be prepared to overcome “You’re too expensive”.

Let me point out what I consider to be two of the more important points.

#3. Have conversations — That certainly infers that most jobs are filled by referrals than any other source. It also means that the more you know about your desired new role, the better off you are. Take the time to seek out those that are experience in that role, even if it is in a different industry from your current one.

#4. Know what you want - Your chance of obtaining your new role are increased when you know exactly what to expect. Find a mentor to help you learn not only the everyday issues, but the unusual situations that can develop. This helps you prepare to respond in the most positive manner possible.

There once was a woman who worked in a medical malpractice insurance company office cubicle. Nicole Ryan did a great job, but seemed to always have co-workers come by her desk from time to time to seek fashion advice.

Over time this led her to consider a career change and a business idea for August Lane Co, a new boutique. Since she always had a love for styling and fashion, it was a great fit.

How did it happen? It took a while. She decided to continue her full-time job and work part-time at LuLaRoe, an online company that hires women as independent fashion retailers. They can make their own schedules. That got her started.

After a full year of working part-time, she left the insurance company after 10 years. She continue with LuLaRoe for four years. Then she took the big leap and opened her own shop. Read the full story at the link below.

It Took Her 36 Years To Realize She Wanted To Fly

Anybody can do anything! You just have to want to. This article from nj.com tells us just how Carole Hopson became a pilot for United Airlines.

She said that she loved airplanes as a girl, when she used to lay on the grass and watch them fly over her grandmother’s house. But she got two college degrees and three career changes to finally fulfill that dream.

She gave up a great career as vice president of Footlocker’s training group to begin flight school at age 36.
